Lake Nona is a 7,000 acre mixed-use planned community within the city limits of Orlando, Southeast of Orlando international airport. Being developed by Lake Nona property holdings, the Lake Nona region is home to Lake Nona Golf and Country club, a life sciences cluster becoming known as Lake Nona’s medical city, and contains an array of retail centers, recreational facilities and residential options. The community is named for a large lake in the northern part.
Lake Nona medical city is considered a biomedical research and education hub and includes a nursing college, a dental medicine college, medical research institute, a veterans medical center, and a children’s hospital. The population of the area has grown from a mere 1,500 to over 50,000 in 2015. The population of the place continues to increase due to the fact that nearly 20,000 homes are under construction or are planned in the Lake Nona area. Most of the residents here are affluent and come in upper middle class range. There are 4-good schools in the area.
Golf, tennis, cycling can be facilitated at the Lake Nona town center, and more can be expected for the Lake Nona resident. Walt Disney is less than half-hour drive and there are 44 miles of bike trails in Lake Nona, so a two wheel commute can be considered.
History of Lake Nona
Before the 7,000 acre planned community was born the area known as Lake Nona was mostly rural farmland. Development began to creep in after the completion of the Southern portion of State Road 417, also known as the Central Florida Greenway.
